Due to increased concerns about the production area of the ingredients used for our products, we are going to make disclosure through our website.
Butter:
The butter used for our Leaf Pie is from the Tohoku area, and Hokkaido butter is used for the other products(including cakes). The milk used in the butter from Tohoku in the past includes 2% Fukushima milk. However, as the policy of the dairy producers, Fukushima milk after the 3/11 earthquake has NOT been used whatsoever in our products. Monthly radioactivity tests run by the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Department of Iwate Prefecture shows neither iodine nor caesium radioactivity ’not detectable’ from the 8 dairy producers that manufactures the butter used in the Leaf Pie. The Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Department of Iwate Prefecture will continue implementing these monthly radioactivity tests. As our butter is used after 3 months of low temperature maturation, if radioactivity is detected from the dairy, we will immediately correspond to changing the production area. In addition, radioactivity that transfers to the butter made of purified milk is said to be 1-4%.
Egg:
we have changed our eggs to eggs from Kagoshima Prefecture (Kyushu area) for products after August 29th 2011.
Flour:
All flour used are from the United States and Canada.
Sugar:
Sugar from Brazil, Thailand, Australia, and partially domestic (from Hokkaido).
Nut:
All nuts are from overseas.
Raisin:
All raisin used are from the United States.
Strawberry Jam (used in "Victoria"):
Until next Summer, strawberry from Watari-cho of Miyagi Prefecture(2010 crop) will be used. After Summer, It is still under consideration.
